Work progressing on our self-hosted system

I just wanted to update everyone on the hard work the Computer Centre, with help from Blackboard’s technical consultant, Stephen Byrne, who has had a lot of experience working with Brunel during previous upgrades, have been doing in setting up our live system, in preparation for moving SISCM’s data back onsite after Christmas. Our priority has been to ensure the system is set up carefully, with rigorous testing, to make sure it is as stable and future proof as possible.

By the end of this week we should have a functioning live system, and be underway with testing data exports/imports from the hardware in the Netherlands to the brand new hardware we bought for Blackboard Learn to run as fast as it possibly can!

This will mean that next week I can publicise a provisional date for the ‘Managed Hosting exit’, which will involve less than a day of downtime for SISCM. I will of course liaise closely with the School to ensure this date is the most convenient one possible.

Lots of confusing equipment and flashing lights
