Our self-hosted system & downtime alert
Thanks to some very hard work by our colleagues at the Computer Centre, we now have a working live system running on our own hardware. We need to test the load balancer that ensures the system can handle what we want to throw at it, but other than that, the platform is ready for us to migrate our data back from Managed Hosting in the Netherlands in January (exact date coming soon).
This is a big step in readying ourselves for the wider rollout to Blackboard Learn, so this is exciting stuff!
Additionally, we are installing some more patches onto our production system (as in, the one that SISCM staff and students are using at the moment) tomorrow at midnight – so we’re looking at downtime of up to around 4 hours (midnight until 4 on Wednesday morning). I hope this doesn’t inconvenience anyone; it is important that we make sure we’re delivering the best performance possible.
